Definition Of Socialization

“Norms” are appropriate and expected behavior that are held by most members of society.
Most of the human personality depends on genes, but their processes of Socialization can mold a person in particular directions by encouraging specific beliefs and attitudes as well as selectively providing experiences.
Processes Of Socialization
The process of Socialization is the lifelong process that begins with birth and ends with death. There are five stages of Socialization which are described below:
● Oral Stage:
This is the first stage of Socialization. This stage starts with childbirth till the age of 1 year. It is the stage where the child is helpless and dependent on others for its survival. Others are to protect him from everything like cold, heat, etc.
● Anal Stage:
This is the stage when a child learns to be a little independent in doing his or her own thing. At this age, the child gets little training like toilet training and learning the difference between wrong and right.
● Oedipal Stage
This is the stage when a child becomes the past of the family completely. The child learns to identify himself. This is the stage where boys choose their mother and girls choose their father.
● Latency Stage
This is the stage when a child starts learning social norms. He or she becomes independent from the daily routine work at home.
● Adolescence Stage
This is the stage in which a child gets transformed into an adult. This stage continues till teenage. At this age, adults try to break free from parental control.
Socialization is the social process, and it is the only process in which humans learn to live life and survive in this world. It is an important process, and it does not end.
